Endocrine consultations

In the office or by secure video

Visits cover thyroid, pituitary, sex hormone (female and male), adrenal, bone, parathyroid and calcium disorders, in the office or through telemedicine, as listed by the practice. A first visit usually includes a careful history, a review of past test results, a focused exam and a plan for any new tests.

  • Referral letters and outside records help
  • Lab work may be ordered before or after the visit
  • Follow-up in person or by televisit

Diabetes & metabolism care

From prediabetes to complex type 2 and type 1

The practice lists care for type 1 diabetes, monogenic diabetes and insulin-resistance diabetes, from prediabetes to complicated type 2. Visits look at your glucose data, medicines and long-term health together. Goals are individualized; for many non-pregnant adults the ADA suggests an A1C below 7% when it can be reached safely.2

  • Medication review and adjustment
  • Hypoglycemia prevention plans
  • Glucose logs and insulin plans available as practice forms

Diabetes technology

CGMs, insulin pumps and automated insulin delivery

Capital Diabetes & Endocrine Associates states that it integrates with all insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors, and lists Eversense implantable CGM placement at its Silver Spring office. The ADA’s 2026 Standards recommend offering CGM at diagnosis or later to people who may benefit, not only those on insulin.1

  • CGM report (AGP) review at visits
  • Pump and AID settings review
  • Implantable CGM placement (Silver Spring)

Thyroid nodule evaluation & FNA

Ultrasound-guided next steps

Nodules are evaluated with thyroid function tests and ultrasound, and some need a fine-needle aspiration (FNA).3 The practice lists thyroid nodule FNAs performed by pathologists at both the Silver Spring and Camp Springs offices. Results are reported with the Bethesda System.4

  • TSH and ultrasound review
  • FNA in the office when appropriate
  • Clear plan for follow-up

Bone health & osteoporosis

Fracture risk, causes and treatment options

Care includes reviewing bone density (DXA) and FRAX results, looking for treatable causes of bone loss, and choosing treatment when fracture risk is high.56

  • Review of DXA and risk factors
  • Testing for secondary causes
  • Medication and lifestyle plan

Capital Health and Metabolic Center

The practice’s medical weight program

A weight-management program offered by the practice with CornerstoneWellnessMD and resources from the Obesity Medicine Association. It uses a team approach built on nutrition, physical activity, behavior and medicines. Program forms are available in English and Spanish.

  • Team-based approach

Remote monitoring & care management

Through the practice’s Welby Health partnership

The practice partners with Welby Health for remote patient monitoring and care management. The program describes a dedicated nurse care manager, home devices that send readings such as blood pressure, weight or glucose, and an individualized care plan. Coverage and costs vary by plan.

  • Dedicated nurse care manager
  • Home readings reviewed by a care team
  • Ask the office whether it fits you

Clinical research

Optional participation

The practice states that it participates in clinical research and clinical trials. If you are interested, you can ask the practice manager or your provider whether a study may be a fit for you. Taking part is always voluntary.
