Editorial policy
How medical content on this site is written, sourced, reviewed and corrected.
Who is responsible
Medical content is written for patients and medically reviewed by Dr. Maria B. Menucci, MD, a board-certified endocrinologist. Each medical page names the reviewer and shows the review date.
How we choose sources
- Current clinical practice guidelines first: the American Diabetes Association Standards of Care in Diabetes, American Thyroid Association, Endocrine Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, and the US Preventive Services Task Force.
- Peer-reviewed research and consensus statements when guidelines are silent.
- Sources are cited in the text and listed at the end of every page, and collected on the references page.
Plain language
We aim for an 8th-grade reading level, explain medical terms, and say clearly when evidence is limited or when choices depend on personal preference.
Review schedule
Medical pages are reviewed at least once a year and sooner when a major guideline changes, such as the annual ADA Standards of Care update.
Facts about the doctor and practice
Biographical details, locations, phone numbers and services come only from official or primary sources, such as the practice’s website and the NPI Registry. We do not publish testimonials, ratings or outcome claims.
Independence
This site has no advertisers or sponsors and does not sell products. Brand names appear only when needed for clarity and are not endorsements.
Use of AI tools
Writing tools may help with drafting, formatting and plain-language editing. Every medical statement is checked against the cited sources and reviewed before publication.
Corrections
If you see something inaccurate or out of date, please email [email protected] or use the contact page. Confirmed errors are corrected and the page’s review date is updated.
